Islamic Ruling on the Permissibility of Martyrdom Operations - Fatwa from Azzam.com arguing by analogy that it is halal

Having read these fatwas and other materials, it seems to me that there are two issues that we need to consider:

1) The Azzam.com fatwa makes an analogy between going into battle at hopeless odds knowing that you won't get out alive, but you're killed by the hands of the enemy, and killing yourself by your own hand. Is this a valid analogy?

The situation in Palestine is a different situation from the US and 911, there are 250 million americans, and we can safley say that there are 248.5 million civilians. So the civilians in the WTC where actual civilins. But in Palestine, where an old lady with a crane in her hand gets snipered at and killed by an israeli soldier, you have to defend your self, a soldier sitting in a cafe can be called at any instant and be asked to put on his uniform to go kill inoccent palestinians. Martyrdom attacks are not the killing of one's self,,, these attacks may take some years to prepare, these peaople leave behind a great life, wife and children, Not like the one who commits suicide because his wife divorced him or because he lost his job.
