A al-salamu `alaykum Whenever the socks meet the conditions mentioned in the message concerning khuff, footgear, socks and barriers, then it is permissible to wipe over them. The conditions are general and are intended to be applied to specific pairs of socks. Mentioning what material the socks are made out of is insufficient. Qualifying it with "normal" is insufficient also, because what "normal cotton socks" means changes from context to context.
