Sheikhs Ibn Bazz & Ibn `Uthaymin (may Allah be merciful with them) Q 1 Is Shaikh AbdulAziz Bin Bazz and Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen from the Hanbali scholars of today? I have read in the book "Fatawa regarding women" under the bio of Shaikh Bin Bazz that he was from the Hanbali school of Fiqh. Who are the well known Hanbali scholars of today? Q2 I have one query, I am interested in knowing of Imams of today that know/teach Hanbali fiqh. Inshallah you can shed light on this as you seem to be in contact with ulema (may allah preserve them) who are such stars. A al-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu Regarding Sheikh Ibn `Uthaymin (may Allah be merciful with him), without doubt a doubt his madhhab in fiqh was that of the Hanabila. There are some issues where he differs with Al-Buhuti and Mar`i bin Yusuf (may Allah be merciful with them), but in each instance that I have seen he is clear clarifying what is the mufta bihi and what he prefers. Rarding Sheikh Ibn Bazz (may Allah be merciful with him), I really do not know. I browsed through a book of his once and I found issues that differ from the madhhab, though this itself is not proof one way or the other. More than one person has said that he is closer to the ways of Al-Shawkani (may Allah be merciful with him) than he is the Hanabila. As for well known Hanbalis of today, I have not mixed with enough Hanbalis to ascertain how well known the different scholars really are. And Allah knows best. wa al-salamu `alaykum --musa |
