Mentioning the concept of laTīf[1] ( لطيف )
…its whole spiritual, cosmological and metaphysic content is simply removed[2] because it does not correspond to anything.

We all suffer - sometimes consciously, sometimes unconsciously - from this depleting of reality of all of its higher levels, the reduction of reality to a single level[3] of the psycho-physical world… and even some modern Muslims are affected by it.

Quote @12:20, vimeo-clip 1

We live in a different ambience[4] in which the necessity of the reformulation and the expansion of the universalist message of the Quran is extremely important and essential. So in this sense it's new[5] because the Quran speaks to every generation, every age.

footnotes:
  1. the subtle, spiritual element in everything, especially in man, his soul; also God's Name Al-Latīf - The All-Kind, Most Gentle.

  2. from people's minds, even from some well-intended ones.

  3. i.e. the loss of the sense of the sacred in its different aspects.

  4. We live today in the ’postmodern world’ which is of course very different compared to the classical Islamic era (before colonisation) when people saw no need to learn about other religions than their own, and ”when a religious community lived as if it were the whole of humanity.”

  5. i.e. this project of 'New Approaches to Qur’an and Exegesis'
